Systems Administrator Supervisor
I became the supervisor of the AIX team at the height of release
1 of the UCMS project. With two new employees, I prepared the team for the departure
of the IBM consultants that were supporting the project. I planned firmware
updates for the AIX servers. Some of the servers had firmware back leveled as
far as five years. I not only supervise the team, but I also serve as a senior
AIX administrator. I organized training for the new employees and research new
methods and technologies.
I work closely with the TSM administrator to trouble shooting TSM issues. I have an understanding of how TSM works. I know the SQL
database language. There are times that SQL is used to query TSM's backend database. I have run SAN fiber optic cables in the server
cabinets reversing polarity when necessary. I have diagnosed SAN issues on the AIX servers.
AIX Systems Administrator
Plan maintenance (schedule hardware replacement, firmware and OS updates). Create and maintain user and group accounts. Setup VIO
servers on P570 frames. Install the OS onto new servers and customize the new servers. Restore servers from backups. I was the team
lead for the UCMS project. As team lead I worked with IBM consultants to setup new equipment. Also, I was responsible for collecting
and documenting the installation and setup information for the UCMS project's knowledge transfer from IBM to L&I.
I designed and built an access database to track user name and group name relationships across all of the AIX servers. This is the
first step in a project in which the goal is to establish user and group consistency across the AIX server farm. Used shell scripting
and ssh to automate tasks across multiple servers simultaneously.
